10 Ways To Use Your Produce Bags

Reuseable produce bags are great for trips to the shops, helping to cut back on single use plastic bags to carry your fruit and veg. They can also be a great alternative to help out where you may have used soft plastic bags in the past. Here are 10 great ways to use your produce bags in other aspects of your life.

  1. Travelling

Anyone who has spent a few weeks living out of a suitcase knows that it can be frustrating to find all of those smaller items that always float around in the bottom of your suitcase like charging adapters, cords, pens and all the little odds and ends you need when travelling. You can use your cotton bags to keep all these items together in one easy place and because they are mesh, you can see through to what is inside.

Another great way to use your bags when travelling is to store all of our small clothing items like underwear and socks together so they are easy to find. You can even have one bag for dirty and one for clean!

2. Going to the Gym

There are a few key items you always take with you when going to the gym - deoderant, make up remover, earphones, hair ties, a small towel etc. Why not put them altogether into one bag to make it easy to grab and go with your gym clothes? It’s also handy to use later to put your used gym clothes in and the breathable mesh cotton means you won’t have a stinky bag to deal with later!

3. Makeup on the Go

Heading out on a girls weekend? Sometimes a small makeup bag isn’t enough when going out on the town or to a special event. Use a cotton bag to take your make up essentials with you. They are also great to use at home for storing items like reuseable make up rounds, or those hard to find items in your drawers like lip balms and small cream jars.

4. Harvesting

If you’re spending a day out in the garden picking herbs or vegetables, take your produce bags around with you to make them easy to collect. No matter if they get a little dirty, simply throw them in the washing machine.

5. Storing Toys

Some toys are great for our kids to play with but not so great when it comes to pack up time. Often toys with small pieces don’t come with packaging that can be reused for storage. Cotton bags can be a great way to keep toys with small pieces together. They’re also great if you’re on the go and need to take something with you to occupy the kids!

6. Picnics

When getting everything ready to go on a picnic, cotton bags can come in handy to keep everything together like cutlery, straws and other utensils. They are even great to bring along pieces of fruit, sandwiches, muffins and other picnic essentials! You can also use them to collect any rubbish at the end of the day to take home with you.

7. Washing Delicates

Our cotton produce bags are machine washable to ensure they can be cleaned when being used with produce. That also makes them great to put delicates in for washing. With no zips for any items to get caught on and no dyes to worry about, you can wash things like reuseable make up rounds, stockings, bras and more.

8. Bath Soaks

If you’re looking to create your own bath soak remedy using natural ingredients like eucalyptus, citrus or lavender, try putting the ingredients into one of the cotton bags and then tying it around the tap for the water to flow through as the bath fills. Alternately, place into the bath once filled and let the oils and aromas seep out. Using the cotton bag ensures that no large pieces are left in the bath water to go down the drain.

9. Air Freshening

Want to keep your cupboards smelling fresh? Simply fill a produce bag with herbs like rosemary, mint, thyme or lavender and hang up in your cupboard. Moths are repelled by the smell of lavender and spearmint so be sure to include for a natural alternative to moth balls.

10. Organising Your Crafts

Buttons, ribbons, wool, cotton - it can be hard to organise! Cotton bags can come in handy to separate these items and keep your different projects all together. Added bonus is you can thread your needles through the tabs on the side of the bags so they don’t get lost.
